The photographic works of local resident Melvyn Gendron are now on exhibit in the center aisle display cases at the Woonsocket Harris Public Library, 303 Clinton Street. Titled "Seasons of Light", the series of photographs captures the dramatic contrast of light and shadow against a variety of objects. The exhibit is available for viewing now through October 31, 2022 during the library's regular business hours. The library is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am-9pm, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9am-5pm, and Saturdays in September from 1pm-5pm.

President Biden is fired up after the U.S. men's soccer team defeated Iran on Tuesday to advance to the knockout stage of the World Cup in Qatar. After a political event in Michigan, Biden went back up to the podium for an impromptu speech and broke out a U-S-A chant. Christian Pulisic [[ poo-lis-ick ]] scored the lone goal for the Americans in the one-nothing win.        Jurors in a sedition case stemming from last year's Capitol riot have found Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes guilty of seditious conspiracy. This is the federal trial of Rhodes, who led the far-right wing militia. They're accused of leading the effort to stop the certification of the Electoral College following the 2020 presidential election.        Strong tornadoes and hail could hit the Mid-South today. Parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama are on alert as forecasters warn of a potential "severe weather event" to unfold, starting in the afternoon and into Wednesday morning. More than 40 million people are being warned to stay alert as the weather system rolls in.       A top Senate Democrat wants to hear from cryptocurrency companies after recent bankruptcy filings. Oregon's Ron Wyden wrote to companies after BlockFi and FTX went belly up. He's asking them many questions, including what protections are given to consumers if the companies suffer the same fate.        A Texas woman linked to the murder of Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen is pleading guilty. Cecily Aguilar was accused of helping her boyfriend, who was the killer. She and Army Specialist Aaron Robinson dismembered Guillen's body and buried her remains in a rural stretch of land near the post.        One of the year's biggest films is landing back in theaters. "Top Gun: Maverick" is getting a re-release in select theaters from December 2nd to December 15th. The sequel film brought in over one-point-four-billion-dollars worldwide
