ZAP 50 Celebration on Sept. 10th!

Please join us On September 10, at Slater Mill National Historical Park, from 11 am to 6 pm for the Blackstone River Revival Celebration, as we celebrate you and your agency and the dozens of other people and organizations that have worked to clean the Blackstone River and watershed.

You are invited, if interested, to have a 10’x10’ exhibit space (Bring Your Own Table/Tent) on the Slater Mill grounds to promote your organization and educate our attendees about all of the great and hard work that you do. We do ask that if you choose to bring a tent, it is no larger than a 10’x10’ and that is safely secured to the ground. Your tent may either be on asphalt or grass so please plan accordingly.

The Celebration event will include music, food, recognitions, and remarks! A tentative agenda is attached. This celebration is held in partnership with the National Park Service, Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park and the River Bend East Songwriters Festival!

Hurricane Ian is only 55 miles from the Florida Gulf Coast with maximum sustained winds of 155 miles an hour, just two miles an hour under Category 5 strength. More than a million people are under mandatory evacuation orders with hurricane and storm surge warnings in effect along hundreds of miles on Florida's west coast.       Forecasters say Hurricane Ian could dump heavy rain on Florida for days after it makes landfall later this afternoon or this evening. The storm is expected to slow to a crawl once it comes onshore, pouring out as much as two feet of rainfall in some areas. The National Hurricane Center said on Tuesday that Ian could march through Florida from today through Friday.        The Senate voted on Tuesday to take up a stop-gap bill to keep the government funded through mid-December as a Friday deadlines looms to avoid a shutdown at midnight Friday. The stopgap bill would keep the government running until December 16th.       Voting referendums in Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine appear to have been rigged. CNBC says election officials went door-to-door with portable ballot boxes in occupied regions of eastern Ukraine and that the results show an overwhelming majority voting to become part of the Russian Federation.        Several new California laws expand protection for abortion services and block other states from interfering in California abortions. New legislation Governor Gavin Newsom signed on Tuesday includes protections against being criminalized for pregnancy loss and expanded training options for nurse practitioners and midwives to perform abortions.        McDonald's will soon offer toys in "adult" meal boxes. The idea is to repackage the chain's popular Happy Meal into something for an older audience. Each meal comes with either a Big Mac or ten-piece McNuggets along with fries and a drink and either a Grimace, Hamburglar, Birdie, or Cactus Buddy figurine. The Cactus Plant Flea Market Box will be available starting on October 3rd.
