Juan Martinez (age 57)

Providence, R.I.

On June 23, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Juan Martinez with three counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of second-degree sexual assault.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence on diverse dates between December 30, 2020, and May 17, 2021. The defendant is alleged to have sexually assaulted three different female victims. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on July 13, 2022, in Providence County Superior Court. He is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) for allegedly violating the terms of his probation stemming from a previous conviction of first-degree sexual assault in 2001 (P1-1999-1865A).

 

 

Laron Paschal (age 53)

Providence, R.I.

On June 23, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Laron Paschal with one count of possession of over one kilogram of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on March 23, 2022. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on July 13, 2022, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

 

Lewis Vasquez Paredes (age 18)

Providence, R.I.

On June 23, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Lewis Vasquez Paredes with one count of first-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on March 18, 2022. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on July 13, 2022, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

The CDC is admitting it failed in its response to COVID-19. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky slammed her agency's public guidance during the pandemic, calling it "confusing and overwhelming," while pushing for an overhaul. She met with her senior staff to plan out a reorganization of the CDC's structure, with public health and containing outbreaks top of mind.        Former Vice President Mike Pence is condemning Republican attacks on the FBI over the search of ex-President Trump's estate in Florida. Speaking in New Hampshire, Pence said the "attacks on the FBI must stop." He added criticism should be directed at Attorney General Merrick Garland, not the FBI agents who were following orders.       Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is out of court in Atlanta. He spent several hours answering questions in front of the grand jury investigating efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The ex-personal attorney of former President Trump is accused of aggressively campaigning to overturn Trump's loss.       Walmart, CVS and Walgreens are being ruled to pay over 650-million dollars to two Ohio counties as part of damages related to the opioid crisis. The totals are set to be split among Lake County and Trumbull County, with Trumbull getting almost 40-million more. The lawsuit alleges the three companies abused their position as registered dispensers of controlled drugs to "foster a black market for prescription drugs."       R. Kelly is being accused of having sex with minors and then paying witnesses off to get rid of the evidence. That's according to prosecutors who said Kelly has a "dark side" that he kept hidden from the world behind his fame. The disgraced R&B singer is on trial in his hometown of Chicago for charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice.       The NBA is revealing its entire schedule for the upcoming season. The new campaign opens October 18th with the Philadelphia 76ers visiting the Boston Celtics, followed by the defending champion Golden State Warriors hosting the Los Angeles Lakers. Five games are on the NBA's Christmas Day slate.
