Roger E. Menard

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we must inform you that Roger E. Menard, Electrical Inspector for the Town of North Smithfield, for the past twenty-three years, passed away during the early hours of the morning on Friday, September 10, 2021. We were honored to have Roger not only as a resident of the Town of North Smithfield, but also as part of the North Smithfield Town Hall family. Many also knew Roger as the respected owner of Menard Electric. He was a wonderful Electrician, Friend and Co-Worker. He was a ray of sunshine when walked into the office and graced our town with his presence and will be missed by all. You are welcome to review and give respects on his attached obituary link.

NS Clean & Green Day 2021

North Smithfield's 18th Clean & Green Day

Saturday, September 25th, 2021 9am - 12noon

Registration starts at 8am at the new town hall (Kendall Dean building).

This year we would like to focus on highly littered areas that need our help the most. Please choose from the areas listed and Google the road to familiarize yourself with where you'll be cleaning. If you don't have a preference, we can choose one for you and notify which road you will be working on if you have registered early enough. If those areas are too hard, you can still clean up a road of your choice that is less traffic. Either way, we are happy you can join us!

*ATTENTION: Each volunteer will need to have their own waiver filled out and signed. If you download the waiver beforehand, it will expedite your registration check-in. You can download the liability waiver yourself here:

 https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/42c515_8b68c57483784d79a6ca320c431440ff.pdf

PLEASE enter T-shirt sizes for each member of your group in the comments section. **We cannot guarantee your shirt size if you do not pre-register before 9/1.

Registration begins at 8 am at the new North Smithfield Town Hall (Kendall Dean). Pick up T-shirts, supplies and location assignments (if not pre-registered).

Enjoy coffee and doughnuts before you go out and beautify our town! If you are done cleaning up your chosen street sooner than expected, we encourage you to go to another area that you see that needs cleaning! Don't forget to post photos and hashtag. And, also check out the contests we're holding the day of as well! Community service hours can be counted towards many organizations' requirements.

After skipping a year of Clean & Green Day, our town is in dire need of a little TLC. We are so happy you can join us and we look forward to seeing you!

New Water Main Flushing

The North Smithfield Water Department will be flushing the new water main at the Edward Ave extension on Monday, September 27th, through Thursday, September 30th. Residents in the Parkview Dr and Edward Ave area may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure and some discoloration. This is not harmful. Department officials recommend limited water use during this time. Check your water before use. If it is discolored, run the cold water until it clears.

COVID-19 VACCINATION CLINIC

Every Wednesday from 3 P.M. - 7 P.M. at the OLQM/Monsignor Gadoury School in Woonsocket, RI

Walk-in or Register on-line at vaccinateri.org

This clinic is offering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine which is for people age 12 or older only. If you are registering to receive an additional (third) dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine / Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, you attest that you have a medical condition that causes moderate to severe immunosuppression.

Who Needs an Additional (Booster) COVID-19 Vaccine?

Currently, CDC is recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional dose. This includes people who have:

  • Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
  • Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection
  • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response

People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional dose is appropriate for them.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers, 4.9 million people misused prescription stimulants, and 5.9 million people misused prescription tranquilizers or sedatives in 2019. The survey also showed that a majority of misused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.
